Production
DRS UK has a mature production facility that employs the principles of lean six sigma. The facility is accredited to ISO9000:9001 and has recently been awarded SC21 Bronze certification, an accolade afforded to very few defence and aerospace manufacturers.
DRS UK’s production facility is capable of managing both batch orientated low volume and high volume flow line. For example, the facility is currently actively engaged in the upgrade of over 14,000 Bowman User Data Terminals at a run rate of up to 350 per month. At the other end of the spectrum, the facility is gearing up to manufacture 31 high value and highly complex naval workstations for an off-shore contract.
An extensive array of manufacturing tools and test systems are available within the Farnham facility including Environmental Stress Screening (ESS) chambers and shock & vibration tables.
In addition to the UK based manufacturing facility, DRS UK is able to utilise numerous DRS and Finmeccanica owned high volume electronics manufacturing facilities in Europe, Asia and the United States of America. Access to such facilities means that DRS UK can approach any production task knowing that it has the capability of delivering competitively priced products without compromising quality or delivery timescales.
